“In the early 2000s, they searched for the most popular type of music. “I want to create a space for everybody to have a seat at the table in worship.”Īccording to Stone, modern church worship is influenced by Christian record labels that tend to produce the same type of music. The way I see it, it’s in need of reform because we’ve been stuck in the same format for so long,” Stone said. “Worship is such a huge part of the way the church functions. Through her studies, she has done extensive research surrounding the church and the role music plays.

As a junior music and worship major with an emphasis in Christian ministries and a double-minor in honors humanities and theology, Stone has a unique worldview that shapes her desire to innovate. Julia Stone ’24 wants to enhance the way the church worships.
